Regulations in French Polynesia

Daily number of dives (French Polynesia)

Article 5: the number of dives mentioned (...) is set under the full and sole responsibility of the dive director and the dive instructor.

This number may not, however, exceed the following limits:

  • when the diving area is deeper than 9 metres, diving on air or nitrox is limited to three dives a day;
  • when the diving area is 70 metres deep or less, diving on trimix or heliox is limited to two dives a day, with a maximum cumulative equivalent depth of 100 metres;
  • when the diving area is deeper than 70 metres, diving on trimix or heliox is limited to one dive a day.

Before you leave

Dive insurance is strongly recommended. Before flying, allow at least 12 hours after your last dive. If the weather prevents us from going out, the club decides that same morning, and the cancelled dive is refunded.

Childcare is available every day through an outside provider, independent of the club.

Where to stay

The club does not sell accommodation. Here are some family guesthouses in Rangiroa.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if I cancel, or if the weather prevents the trip?

A cancellation made at least 24 hours before the trip is refunded. If the weather or sea conditions prevent us from going out, the club decides on the morning itself, and the cancelled dive is refunded.

Do you pick me up from my accommodation?

Yes, transfer is included: one return trip a day from your accommodation. The pick-up time is confirmed when you book.

Can I dive on the day I arrive or the day I leave?

You can dive on the day you arrive, as long as your flight lands in time for the boat departure. Before flying, allow at least 12 hours after your last dive, and 24 hours after several days of repeated diving.

Do I need a medical certificate? Insurance?

When you book, you receive a link by e-mail to fill in your diver form and medical certificate. A medical certificate is compulsory from the age of 65. Dive insurance is strongly recommended: your travel insurance does not always cover diving accidents.

Can children be looked after while we dive?

Childcare is available every day through an independent provider, separate from the club. Ask us for their details.

What are your safety rules?

Every trip starts with a briefing on the site, the current and the plan. Equipment is checked, the boats carry oxygen, a first-aid kit and a VHF radio, and a boat driver stays on board during the dive. The reference hyperbaric chamber is in Tahiti.
