The club
A place to spend time
Terrace, faré, hammocks, a snack bar nearby: the club is a place where people get together between dives. It was founded in 1995 by three friends, and the name comes from the way they see diving: a dive group is a crew of passengers on board together.
The team welcomes you in French, English, Italian and Spanish, and the club is accessible to people with reduced mobility.

The team
The club is run by qualified instructors and trains with PADI, CMAS, ANMP, SSI and TDI. Skippers drive the boats and look after safety on the surface.
Pitou has logged well over 20,000 dives in the pass. He knows every coral head and every fish, and anticipates how they will react to the conditions: a turning current, swell, animal behaviour. He also has a real feel for the animals.
The setting
Close to the Hotel Kia Ora Resort & Spa, in Ohutu Bay, the centre sits on the edge of a “hoa”, a small natural channel that boats cannot sail through, which shelters the boats and makes it easy for dive groups to set off. The site also has a lovely white sand beach facing the Rangiroa lagoon, with a few sun loungers.

The centre is made up of a technical room for storing and handing out equipment, and a “paumotu”-style house with the centre itself and a clubhouse for debriefing the dives over a snack. It is all surrounded by a large wooden deck (450 m²) and ends in a jetty where divers board the boats directly.
You can also use the Internet access at the centre, and the snack bar right next door.

The boats
The club has four rigid inflatable boats. The two largest, 8.50 metres long, each have two 250-horsepower engines: they make longer trips possible, in comfort, even on the open sea. The other two have 115-horsepower engines.
All dives are drift dives: a skipper always stays on board to follow the dive group and pick it up at the end of the dive. Every boat carries oxygen, a first-aid kit and a VHF radio linked to the centre.

The equipment
Full equipment is included in the price of every dive, wetsuit included. The gear is by Scubapro: regulators, consoles with pressure gauge and depth gauge, BCDs, masks, fins, weight belts and weights, and 3 mm wetsuits. The water is usually 29 °C, dropping by 2 to 3 degrees in July and August.
The tanks are 15-litre buoyancy-compensated aluminium cylinders, and 12-litre tanks are also available. Nitrox is offered to certified divers. The air is produced on site by two Bauer compressors.
